MY PENDANT IS ME!
That piece of jewellery hanging around your neck can actually
be a mirror to your personality. AINDRILA MITRA talks to six
famous faces revealing their innate penchant for pendants
that depict them exclusively and accurately.
“I’m
not really a jewellery person. But I like jewellery with character.
An ideal pendant for me is one that is not too flashy. It
should be a locket in platinum, oval in shape, embellished
from outside and worn with the same-metal chain. The locket
could either carry a photograph or an inscription. So an elegant
piece of artwork is what would depict me perfectly.”

“I’m
more a ring and earring girl. However, I have a fascination
for pendants that are funky, sexy, bold and yet very feminine.
I love the pendant that I wore for my music video, which has
‘S’ cutout in silver. I guess it is an international trend
to have your italics in the pendant. Alternatively, the Chopard
‘Happy Diamond’ pendant is really beautiful. I completely
avoid yellow gold and rather prefer platinum or white gold.”
Sophia choudhry veejay, singer
“A
pendant that would really be like ‘me’ would be the solitaire
of two carats I wear with a platinum chain around my neck.
It is very elegant and sleek and can be worn throughout the
day and could also extend to eveningwear. The pendant depicts
me as a person in terms of it being smart looking and yet
not too flashy. It also has special significance in my life
since I won it at a show a couple of years ago. It is my favourite
piece of jewellery.”
Shaina N C Fashion designer
“The pendant that makes my day is the one that I have been
wearing for the past 10 years now. It is a Balaji pendant
in diamond and gold. I got it from a friend at a very special
time and the pendant holds immense significance for me. It
gives me spiritual strength and exudes positive energy. The
pendant somehow makes me feel comfortable and confident.”
Aarti Surendranath Socialite
“Without
sounding clichéd, I am a complete diamond girl. The ideal
pendant for me would be the Asmi diamond in the form of a
solitaire. I like designs that are strong, yet not flashy.
Subtlety is the key. Moreover, the sparkle of that solid rock
can never be missed!”
Perizad Zorabian Actress, model
“My pendant would be an art-déco piece. It definitely needs
to be adorned with diamonds. And if I were wearing pastels,
to add a bit of colour I would either go with emeralds or
rubies. I like long chains running right up to mid-waist and
the metal used would definitely be platinum.”
