The event was held at
the Kulturzentrum BFM,
a historic IWC Schaffhausen honoured
upcoming model and actress Nimrat
Kaur, winner of the competition to
identify an unnamed personality
featured in the Watch International
magazine. Kaur won an IWC Pilot’s
watch, which was handed to her at
the IWC boutique in New Delhi.
With winners from Belgium, UK,
Germany, Australia and other
countries having won Pilot’s
watches from the IWC Aquatimer,
Ingenieur, Da Vinci and Portofino
collections, this contest is truly
international in nature. Kaur, who
also sings, dances salsa, and is
skilled at martial arts, has an
impressive portfolio of work in
music videos, theatre, advertising
THIRD TIME’S THE CHARM
Rado, the pioneers of ceramic watch-making have made their
presence felt in India, by opening another exclusive boutique
in Mumbai. On February 25, 2009, the international brand
ambassador of Rado, Lisa Ray inaugurated the new store at
the CR2 shopping complex at Nariman Point in South
Mumbai. Roland Streule, CEO of Rado, was also present at
the opening. The store i an intimate setup, where customers
can experience the sophisticated nature of Rado. At the
opening, Ray stated, “I appreciate Rado for its aesthetic
quality, but also recognise its sheer comfort as a wristwatch.
I’m so proud to have been associated with Rado all these
years with our relationship proving to be such a success.”
Streule addressed Rado’s focus on India as he commented,
“With the opening of our third boutique in Mumbai, we hope
to continue receiving a warm response from our customers
here.”
THE WINNING SPIRIT
Piaget, long-term sponsor of the Film Independent’s Spirit Awards, celebrated the 24th
edition of the awards show on February 21, 2009 in Santa Monica, California. Mickey
Rourke, who wore a Piaget Polo timepiece, won an award for his leading role in The
Wrestler. Nominee Anne Hathaway dazzled in Piaget Limelight jewellery. Other
Hollywood A-listers who sported Piaget on the red carpet included Jessica Alba, Teri
Hatcher, Mena Suvari, Andie MacDowell, Aaron Eckhart and Alec Baldwin. A highlight
of the afternoon’s festivities was the presentation of the Piaget Producers Award. Andie
MacDowell and Thomas Hayden Church presented the coveted award and grant to
Heather Rae, for her outstanding production of the critically acclaimed Frozen River,
which also fetched lead actress Melissa Leo an award. Following the ceremony,
Piaget CEO Philippe Léopold-Metzger and Film Independent’s Executive
Director Dawn Hudson welcomed guests to the Piaget lounge for some
celebratory champagne and a closer look at the renowned Swiss jeweller and
watchmaker’s newest creations.
