“I am an absolute watch enthusiast, which is reflected in my collection of eclectic timepieces. While I do own branded timekeepers, I’m not really brand conscious. I buy them simply because I love them.” He reminisces, “My parents gave me my first watch, a Titan. It meant a lot to me.”
So, which is the latest addition to his collection of wristwatches? He reveals, “My latest purchase is an elegantly-designed timepiece from Corum.” His love for watches compels him to share details of some of his other timepieces. He says, “I own the Frank Muller Crazy Hours watch, which is a very funky timepiece. The dial has haphazardly-placed numbers that represent hours. The hour hand jumps to indicate the correct hour, while the minute hand functions normally. For some reason, it was this crazy hour feature that caught my fancy.” His love for watches isn’t restricted to the unique. His extensive collection includes everything — the sporty to the quintessential leather-strapped timepieces.

“My first watch was presented to me by my mother when I was in college. It was a Swatch. Somehow, over the years, most of my timepieces have belonged to this brand.” When it comes to watches, his profession leaves him with little room to experiment. He explains, “While cooking, a watch tends to get dirty, so I prefer timepieces with washable acrylic belts. I remember an incident when my metallic Swatch watch fell into the frying pan! Fortunately, it survived the ordeal!” For daily use, he prefers timepieces by Swatch for their durability and sturdiness. However, on a recent sojourn to Israel, he did pick up a trendy timepiece from Diesel as an indulgence.

“My choice in watches is determined by the occasion. It should serve a functional purpose by day and make a style statement in the evening. I received my first watch as a teenager — a trendy Movado timepiece given to me by my brother.” During the day, she sports an Omega wristwatch. For an evening out, she loves her latest acquisition — the Chopard Happy Diamond. She says, “The dial is surrounded by floating diamonds and makes for the perfect evening wear accessory. With its subtle emphasis on diamonds, it also serves as a beautiful piece of jewellery. In fact, I have an amazing collection of watches for evening wear. Since, I have slim wrists, I prefer delicate designs and clear dials.”

If her collection is any indication, then she loves watches of every kind. She admits, “My taste in watches range from the delicate and bold to the stylish and classic. On the occasion of my navjote, my parents gave me my first watch. It was a yellow-coloured Snoopy timekeeper. I was so thrilled with it that they later presented me with a Swatch timepiece.” Her love for watches has grown and evolved; her current favourite is a wristwatch from Guess with a pink dial. Her most recent addition to her collection is a diamond watch from Christian Dior.

“I wear a watch all the time, even when I go to bed. I simply cannot do without one. Since, I remove my watch only when I’m on the ramp, I look for timekeepers that are water-resistant. My first watch was a Titan, a gift from my father. It had a tiny dial and I used to proudly wear it to school.” According to her, watches must be functional yet stylish. In this regard, her most recent purchase is the professional swimmer’s watch by TAG Heuer. She comments, “I look for watches with the date and day display. I also have an Omega timepiece that suits my personality and goes well with most of my western outfits.”

“To me, a watch is functional and still the ultimate fashion accessory. I feel lost if I leave my home without a watch. I still remember my first watch — it was a timepiece from Guess. My mother had requested my cousin to purchase it on her trip abroad. I had just finished schooling and was so excited to have it.”
Today, she is a big fan of Cartier watches. She reveals, “I surf the Internet to keep track of their latest launches. I own three Cartier timekeepers, one of which is the Cartier Pasha recently given to me by my husband. I love watches with big dials and steel finish. The stunning elegance of a Cartier watch seems to offer both.”
