Established in 1966, the Gitanjali Digico Group is one of the earliest diamond houses in India. By 1968, it was accorded a Sight by the Diamond Trading Company Ltd. London and Gitanjali became one of the first Sightholders in India. Having received over 50 national and council awards from the Ministry of Commerce for outstanding exports, it is today one of the largest diamond exporting companies in India. Presently, the Gitanjali Group has highly modernised diamond cutting and polishing facilities at five locations in India. The group strengthens its core business of loose diamonds with its international association to Diminco N.V.

who has globally diversified manufacturing operations in Bangkok, Vietnam and China and a marketing network spread across Europe, Hong Kong, USA and Japan. Not only that, it has captured the entire value chain right from sourcing rough diamonds, diamond manufacturing, polished diamond trade to jewellery manufacturing retailing and branding. Today, the group has a great brand portfolio to its credit, be it Asmi, D’damas, Sangini (joint venture with Sanghavi Exports) or Nakshatra(as partners in the Brightest Circle Jewellery Pvt. Ltd.) – all of its brands are well-established and constantly delighting the customers all over.

D’damas
One of the most popular brands in India today with its several sub-brands targeted towards a variety of markets. The brand has come up with the following new collections for this season:
Bollywood Collection – The highlight of this is the ‘Krrish Commitment’ range specially designed taking inspiration from the much talked about Hrithik starrer movie of the same title. The Bollywood collection has a whole new range of gold jewellery, 18-carat studded with coloured stones celebrating Bollywood - glamorous pendants, earrings, finger rings, bracelets and sets

Nizam Jewellery – D’damas presents `Nizam’, a range of exquisite jewels created for every woman who dreams of being a princess. Reflecting the glory of ancient Indian heritage, the Nizam jewels are at once regal in their magnificence, contemporary in their sensibility and universal in their appeal. Inspired by the romance of the magnificent palaces and havelis of India, every piece in the Nizam collection is an expression of the opulence and splendour of a bygone era.

The Nizam jewels are handcrafted from gold and embellished with precious and semi-precious gemstones. Drawing upon a vast repertoire of ancient Indian designs and jewels that were created for the maharajas and maharanis of India, the Nizam jewels are a fusion of motifs from nature - the lotus, paisley, jasmine, the sun, moon and myriad other elements - all embellished with the sparkle of tourmalines, emeralds, rubies and uncut diamonds. Each piece is exquisitely hand-crafted in age-old techniques such as kundan with brilliantly hued gems embedded in strips of pure soft gold, vibrant meenakari enamel colours detailing delicate flowers and meandering vines, exquisitely entwined filigree work, thewa, granulation and repousee. A range of necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings, timeless in their aura, symbolises an ancient tradition that endures even today.

The Nizam collection has been specially designed and created for today’s woman who is a fusion of the past and the present, traditional at heart and modern in outlook and above all immensely proud of India’s vast and rich heritage. Combining the aesthetics of traditional craftsmanship and the affordability of contemporary manufacture, the Nizam collection reiterates the enduring elegance of India’s legacy.

The Nizam jewels collection has been specially designed and conceptualised for D’damas by Dr. Usha BalaKrishnan, a jewellery designer and internationally renowned historian of Indian jewellery. Drawing upon her vast knowledge of India’s art, culture and heritage, her in-depth knowledge of Indian craftsmanship and her finely tuned aesthetic sensiblities, Usha’s passion for India’s artistic heritage have fired her imagination to design pieces that lead us into a lyrical, romantic world of sparkling magnificence. Re-interpreting ancient designs, traditional craftsmanship and modern sensibility, the jewels reflect her elegant and refined personality.

Inspirations - Ritu Beri’s collection – is a mix of traditional gold work and contemporary styling. Mainly 22-carat gold jewellery which is trendy and unusual but incorporating traditional Indian art work, like filigree, embossing, stamping, enamelling, granulation work.

Ballerina - the concept is to make the diamonds move around the studded boundary. The diamonds are inside the glass moving, celebrating joy and happiness. Coloured stones have been used in the range and the target audience is young 22-30 years.

Petale - fall summer collection, based on bloom and flowers. There is a lot of colour, and stones mixed with diamonds.

Sangini
Sangini was launched by DTC as one of its flagship brands in the year 2004. It was positioned as a brand that glorifies women in a relationship. It considers a woman to be the centre of the family. Hence all Sangini diamond jewellery is characterised by a bezel set centre stone, the diamond being slightly larger than the others used in the same piece. The designs featuring in this collection are such that the central diamond always attracts attention. The product wear includes almost everything, right from solitaire rings to bridals.

The brand is focussed on couples, especially men. Surveys point out that men believe that gifting a diamond to their wives is a true expression of their love and it signifies the importance that the woman has in their lives and in the relationship. The brand has a very strong philosophy to itself which truly reflects in its designs as well. Hence, it has a wide appeal in the Indian market.

It has recently been taken over by Spectrum Jewellery, a 50:50 joint venture between Gitanjali Group and Sanghavi Exports. As a part of the celebration of the Sangini takeover on the eve of April 11, 2006, the starcast of the movie, ‘Tom, Dick and Harry’, namely: Jimmy Shergill, Anuj Sawhney and Dino Morea adorned the Sangini Diamond Jewellery and graced the ramp. The tie-up of two great names in the diamond and jewellery trade in India is supposed to yield great results. The allies intend to further widen its consumer base and build upon further recognition for the brand in the country.
