The glamourous beauty Malaika Arora Khan simply adores emeralds.
She says, “Green is my absolute favourite color.” Although
she doesn’t wear it for astrological reasons, she loves the
glistening depths of the unique stone. She emphasises, “I like
emeralds on all kinds of ornaments, bracelets, rings and necklaces.”
She likes to pair her emeralds with red carpet evening dresses and
saris alike. “Emeralds look best with white gold,” she
concludes emphatically.

“My favourite stones are diamonds, emeralds and rubies.
I am mesmerised by the colours of gemstones and I am partial to
gemstone-studded rings and earrings. As a designer, I always pay
attention to the three Cs — cut, clarity and carat. I pick
up my stones from various places such as Jaipur, Bangkok and Hong
Kong. In fact, gemstones and yellow gold are a great combination
for the festive season. Ultimately, gemstones are fantastic and
elegant. I love aquamarines, sapphires and especially peridots.”

rubies and emeralds. Gemstones appeal to me because they reflect
femininity and elegance. I like to wear gemstone-studded jewellery
as I find them simply fascinating. I don’t wear them for any

I feel that bright coloured gemstones go well with Indian attire.”
From her collection, she treasures a sparkling jewellery set. She
explains, “My mother presented me with this beautiful set studded
with gemstones; it is both ornate and timeless.”

“I am very particular about the gemstones I wear as they
contain crystalline minerals that affect our emotions and if worn
appropriately, create a positive impact. The benefits of gemstones
are many — they affect our health and relationships. I have
read a lot on the subject and through a process of trial and error
narrowed down the list. Rubies are very lucky for me and corals
don’t suit me.”
She has been wearing a diamond-studded ring for the past 13 years.
She says, “I was told that I will meet the right man if I wear
a diamond and on the second day of wearing the ring, I met my husband!
Before buying a gemstone, I keep it under the pillow for a week
to see how it affects me and then decide accordingly. Currently,
I am wearing rubies, pearls and a yellow sapphire as rings, but
only for astrological reasons.
I also pick up jewellery sets embedded with gemstones as I am captivated
by the brilliance of their colours .I usually consider the cut,
carat and clarity of each stone and prefer to wear them with gold
or gold with rhodium polish. I find that jewellery with gemstones
enhances your complexion, making it glow.”

Maria displays her fondness for diamonds. She says, “I
think diamonds look lovely if worn casually.” She however adds
that they should be subtle and not overpowering. Her preferences
in shapes include round and heart diamonds, which display these
precious stones elegantly and in a feminine fashion. She also likes
to wear large diamond-studded hoops although diamond studs also
find a preference with her. As far as her choice of setting them
in a particular metal goes,  she
remarks, “I believe they look best when set in solid gold or
pure white gold.”

She says, “I love wearing diamonds, especially rings.”
She hopes to own a beautiful solitaire some day and refrains from
wearing necklaces. Frightened of losing these precious gems, she
says, “I do like to wear diamond earrings, but I don’t
wear them often because I party a lot and keep changing my accessories.”
She doesn’t subscribe to any particular gemstone as she remarks
that she has never consulted an astrologer. “But I do think
diamonds bring me luck,” she concludes optimistically.
