Squares
and circles are at times considered to be too rigid. Shapes that
are too perfect in their proportions can add monotony to the aura
they create thats a bit too uniform. The Audemars Piguet
Millenary collection brings about a change in this, breaking the
monotony of uniform proportions with their oval dials.
Inspired by the Coliseum in Rome, the oval dials of the collection
symbolise flexibility, a sense of relaxation something Audemars
Piguet likes to call Oval Time. Finally, a name to associate
with every moment of the day the time you spend with yourself,
when every minute belongs to you to be savoured to the fullest.
Whether it lasts a few seconds or several hours, it is the time
of regained intimacy. Its this precious time that Millenary
presents with exquisite elegance, combining timely performance and
modernity within a collection so inimitable. Composed of one line
for men and another for women, Audemars Piguet takes us through
a brand new conception of time.
The
Millenary Line for Women
The basic design of the Audemars Piguet oval timepiece has
its logo at 12 and Arabic numerals with sword-shaped hands in the
base colour of each piece. It comes in pink, pastel blue, pale grey,
black and chocolate brown crocodile leather straps, except for the
gem-set. This comes in a bracelet in polished steel or 18-carat
gold metal.
Within the Millenary line designed for women, the sensuality of
the oval is sublimated by delicately curved soft lines and generous,
distinctive proportions. The case, which is either in pink, white
or yellow gold or polished steel, is topped with a slightly raised
bezel adorned with diamonds, in alternate variations. In the gold
versions, this crown of diamonds underscores the subtle charm of
a natural white mother-of-pearl dial. In the jewellery or gem-set
variation, the gold of the case, bezel and lugs are set with brilliant
stones standing out against a black or chocolate brown dial with
diamond pavé hour zone.
The
pink model has a black dial with a polished-steel bezel and comes
either with embedded diamonds or without. There is a variation without
the diamonds that have the day-date dials within the main dial.
The time adjusting knob has a pink stone attached to it, standing
between two buttons that adjust the date. The model in pastel blue
has a crocodile leather strap with a white gold bezel. The numerals
are in blue on a silver dial. There is yet another variation with
a black crocodile leather strap. With a white-gold bezel and case,
it has a charcoal-grey dial with lighter-hued numerals.
The gem-set model or the jewellery model of the Millenary range
comes in shining white gold with shimmering diamonds. With a white
gold bracelet, it is adorned with diamonds on every clasp of the
metal. The bezel has a white gold case, embedded with diamonds.
There are diamonds spread like a blanket all across the dial, with
no numerals, but blue sapphires in place of the 12, three, six and
nine numbers. The hands are sleeker, and quite short.
All
variations in the womens range have a standard dial size with
a 26 mm diameter and 3.25 mm thickness. With a calibre of 2325,
the timepieces are self-winding, with a 40-hour power reserve and
water resistant up to 20 metres. All the parts are decorated by
hand. The diamonds used for the gem-set version are all of Top Wesselton
Internally Flawless (IF) quality. Each watch comes with a certificate
guaranteeing the number, the quality and the carat weight of the
precious stones.
The Millenary Line for Men
Resolutely asserting the neoclassical style, the Millenary
line for men features an oval case endowed with polished curves
that contrast with its straight, satin-brushed sides. Despite its
generous size of 45 mm and oversized crown, its ergonomic design
ensures absolute wearer comfort. The range comes in four basic models
with variations in them The Millenary Chronometer, Millenary
Date and Time, Millenary Time Zone and the Millenary Gem-Set. Broadly
available in white or pink gold, the models mostly have hand sewn
crocodile leather straps with visible stitching. There are variations
in large square scale, rolled edge white gold bracelets.
The
Chronometer with a white or black dial set in a white gold case
and bezel, has smaller oval shaped day and date dials. The white
dial variation has blue numerals and hands, while the black dial
has white numerals and hands. The strap is either in black crocodile
leather or a white gold bracelet. The date and time model is very
basic in appearance. In a white gold bezel and case, it comes in
either a black or brown crocodile leather strap, or with a white
gold bracelet. The one with the black strap has a white dial, while
the other two variations come with a black dial. The white dial
has black Arabic numerals and vice versa.
The
Time Zone version is unique from any other watch in the Millenary
collection with a round dial within its oval case along with a sweeping
pattern across, on the left of the dial. It has day-date dials within
the original black or silver dial. The bezel is either in white
or pink gold and is available only in a black leather strap.
The Gem-Set version is like a bigger version of its counterpart
for women. The dial size, its thickness and the width of the diamond-embedded
bracelet increase. The diamonds used here are the same as those
in the womens model.
Millenary for men have the basic mechanics of working across the
entire range of models and variations. With a 22-carat gold oscillating
weight, the timepieces are water resistant up to 20 metres. Finally,
the sapphire case-back of the Millenary for men reveals the subtle
intricacies of the self-winding calibre 3120 an exclusive
movement developed by Audemars Piguet. It blends reliability and
precision making it a watchmakers delight.
Whether keeping time during dynamic days or accompanying magical
moments, Millenary promises to occupy a special place in the lives
of men and women. It serves as a faithful witness of the precious
instances.
